Fans Have Voted and Topeka Pro Hockey Has a Name

Today Topeka Pro Hockey of the Federal Prospects Hockey League are proud to announce they have settled on a name. After a fan vote the selection was loud and clear that the Topeka Scarecrows will return for their inaugural season in the FPHL.

After a two-week nomination period that saw a number of names come through the top five were settled on and put to a fan vote. In a huge response to the Topeka Pro Hockey social media pages the fans let their voices be heard and called for the return of the Topeka Scarecrows. So for the first time since March 29th, 2001 the Crows will make their way back into the heart of Topeka and look to reign terror down upon the FPHL.

“The fans have made their voices heard and we couldn’t be more thrilled to reintroduce the Topeka Scarecrows name in celebration of the return of pro hockey. One of the key factors in brining hockey back to the area was to embrace the history and focus on making the next chapter great. With the community being this invested in the name we can’t wait to see them at the rink.” Owner Don Lewis said to the media.

Chris Bryniarski echoed the excitement about the fan response. “We are excited about the enthusiasm the fans showed during the Name the Team Contest. The return of the Scarecrows name reflects the rich history of this area. We are also delighted with the new logo design and can’t wait to showcase it throughout the community. When we came here we knew it was important for the fans to have a voice and the results showed that the city is invested.” Bryniarski said when reached for comment.
